Question IconIs the Pyron Garden a public space?
Answer IconWhile the Pyron Garden is open to the public during our regular hours, please keep in mind that the house and gardens are privately owned. This is a lived-in home, and we kindly ask all guests to be respectful during their visit. That means honoring posted hours, avoiding litter, keeping off the grass, and refraining from picking flowers or disturbing plants.

Because the garden is on private property, it may occasionally be closed without prior notice for personal use, weather, or maintenance. We do our best to communicate these closures in advance whenever possible, and we appreciate your understanding and respect for the space.

NOTICE: We reserve the right to refuse service or access to anyone or ask anyone to leave the property for reasons including but not limited to disruptive or potentially threatening conduct, health and safety risks, safety threats, the use of discriminatory language or actions, capacity limits, or going against posted rules or hours. Entering the garden despite warnings, bans, or posted signage and/or hours is considered trespassing. Failure to abide by these rules may result in a temporary or lifetime ban as well as possible legal action.

Is there an entry fee to visit the garden?

No Entry Fee

Typically, there is no cost to visit the garden during regular posted hours. We love welcoming guests to enjoy the space.

On rare occasions, we may host special events that require a ticket or entry fee, but these are infrequent and will always be clearly announced in advance.

Come by, take a stroll, and enjoy the beauty – we’re happy to have you!

Is the garden wheelchair/stroller accessible?

We strive to make the Pyron Garden welcoming to all visitors! While much of the garden is accessible, there are some limitations due to its historic design, dating back to the early 1930s.

The entrance is at the bottom of a steep driveway, and the flagstone paths throughout the garden are a bit narrow. Some areas can only be reached by a small set of stairs or by crossing a narrow bridge. Additionally, we ask guests to keep off the grass and stay on the paths to avoid damaging the lawn. During rainy or wet seasons, grassy areas may be challenging to navigate with a wheelchair or stroller.

For these reasons, while it’s possible to explore much of the garden, visitors using wheelchairs or strollers may find some parts difficult to access. If you have specific questions or need assistance planning your visit, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re here to help!

Is photography allowed?

We absolutely love seeing people capture the beauty of the garden – whether it’s a quick snap on your phone or a dreamy portrait in the sunlight.

However, if you’re a professional photographer planning a dedicated or commercial shoot, we kindly ask that you book your session in advance and be aware that an hourly location fee applies. This helps us ensure the garden remains a peaceful space for all visitors and allows us to manage the calendar fairly. Casual photos are always welcome during open hours, but for extended sessions, client work, or frequent use, please reach out so we can make sure everything runs smoothly for everyone involved.

Thank you for helping us keep the garden blooming for all to enjoy! You can submit your photos to us for a chance to be featured on our website or social media!

What counts as “professional” photography?

We consider photography to be professional if a photographer is charging a client for their services or if the images will be used for business or promotional purposes (including social media branding, websites, etc.).

If this applies to your shoot, we kindly ask that either the photographer or the client book a session in advance, as an hourly location fee is required for professional use. This helps us manage the space fairly and keep the garden enjoyable for everyone.

Unscheduled professional shoots may be asked to leave, and repeat violations could result in being restricted from future access. Thank you for understanding and helping us preserve the garden’s peaceful atmosphere!

May I bring my dog or other pets?

While we love animals, we kindly ask that you leave pets at home during regular garden visits, as the property is also home to a few furry residents of our own.

Service animals are always welcome, but we do ask that they remain on a leash and that owners clean up after them.

If you’re hoping to include a pet in a photoshoot or private event, let us know in advance – we’re happy to chat and may be able to make special accommodations!

Are picnics allowed in the garden?

We love it when guests relax and enjoy the garden! While you’re welcome to sip your coffee, tea, or enjoy a light snack at one of our tables or benches, we kindly ask that you refrain from setting up full picnics during regular hours – this helps keep the space enjoyable and tidy for everyone.

If you’re interested in planning a special picnic for a romantic date or small gathering, we’d love to hear from you! That kind of setup may fall under our event booking options, and we’re happy to help you plan something lovely.

And as always, please carry out anything you carry in. Thank you for helping us keep the garden beautiful!

Is there parking available on site?

Yes

There is limited street parking near the garden, as well as a small lot across the street. That lot is generously shared by the neighboring church, so we ask that you please be mindful of their service times when parking there.

During busy seasons, parking can be a bit tight, and a short walk may be necessary. To help with traffic flow, we kindly encourage guests to use the church lot first before parking along the street.

Please do not park in or block the private driveway, as that space is reserved for the owners. Thank you for helping us keep things smooth and respectful for everyone!

What happens if it rains on the day of my booking?

We understand that weather can be unpredictable – especially in a garden! If it rains or conditions aren’t ideal on the day of your event or photoshoot, we’ll happily work with you to find a new date or time that fits your schedule.

In cases of extended bad weather, we may also need to reschedule or cancel in order to protect the garden and ensure guest safety. We truly appreciate your understanding during these rare but necessary decisions.

For more details on scheduling, cancellations, and weather-related changes, please visit our Calendar page for the most up-to-date information.

Can I volunteer or support the garden in other ways?

Absolutely – and we’re so grateful you asked! One of the best ways to support the Pyron Garden is simply by being a respectful guest: enjoy the space gently, avoid littering or picking flowers, stay on the paths, and help us care for the garden by treating it as your own.

Other meaningful ways to show support include:

  • Donating to our Garden Maintenance Fund, which helps with restoration and upkeep
  • Adding a book to our little on-site library for others to enjoy
  • And most importantly, sharing the space with loved ones and creating beautiful memories

We don’t currently have a formal volunteer program, but who knows – maybe one day! In the meantime, your kindness and care go a long way!
